Practical Applications for
Technology in Genealogy

... with an occasional overdose of humor.

OVERVIEW
This series of articles and lectures is about practical uses of scanners, printers, palm computers, digital cameras, GEDCOM import and export, email programs, everything in MS Office, and the corresponding programs for Palm computers. Well, it's kind of about them. It's really about usefulness, and that means extending the capabilities of people. Functionality doesn't come from having tools, it comes from using them.

Computers sometimes work, but only within a narrow range of parameters. Computer use can be a very frustrating activity for people. Through these articles and lectures, people can come to a greater understanding of how to use these tools to connect with their families.

In 2003, I accepted a position with MyFamilyInc.com, the parent company of Ancestry.com, Genealogy.com, and RootsWeb.com. None of my articles contain any opinions other than my own, nor do they contain any information about future products from my employer.
