Finding the Cemetery Redux:
Using Google Maps to find your family's earthly remains

Mt Olivet, Ft Worth

Zoomed all the way

Bad News at Gettysburg - you can't get any closer than the 2000 feet resolution. Past that, you get no image. The map will zoom as much as you like, but not with a satellite image. There are 1000 feet, 500 feet, and 200 feet versions. The terms I'm using are the measurements on the legends. We could just as easily say, "Level 1" is closest, and that "Level 4" is the closest level for the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

The Cemetery is mostly to the right of marker A. Not much to see in this image. In general, the images are best near cities, and away from them, the resolution falls off a lot.

Pine Grove

I've been experimenting with a smugmug virtual cemetery. The working version is here.
